US Customs lost my fork, “too bad” they say

Yeah, admitted to myself a week ago I would never see it.

That totally sucks Robin.
What does USPS say? Or the shipper that got it to Customs?

It does.
USPS tracked it “inbound to Customs” Nov 4 6:56 PM. USPS does not track again until Customs releases it back to them. Its gone……
Also no insurance claim after 60 of package being posted. It took me this long to go through all USPS hoops, then, finally, US. Customs complaint filed, another 30 days wait!
It is designed to absolve them of any responsibility!

oh, it came Italia Post, but USPS or someone in NYC scanned it into our system.

The same thing happened to me. I contacted the retailer in Europe and ended up getting a PP refund. Then the package showed up on my doorstep 6 months later in pristine condition just a little dusty.

The retailer sent me a message a couple of months later asking to resend them the money since the package had been delivered. I did submit the payment again and everything was cool after that.

No recourse. It is gone somewhere. I am sure they opened it, thinking “omg its a rifle!” lost the box at breaktime. Put it in the “missing address” section until a keen eyed employee saw it and took it home.

Yes there was insurance on the package, no, “USPS is not responsible.” “Charlene” from USPS said forget about trying to collect from Customs.

Time to call the credit card company and put a hold on the charge. Not your check to cash.

One thing is certain — the general population is always on the lookout to steal a fork for a random bicycle.

Well sure, as long as it has canti bosses and a one inch steerer tube. Those things are priceless!

When one government agency tries to pass the blame to another, priceless.

I love that customs has a ‘compliments’ branch, lol. I want to staff that job.
