Some early leaf color change showing up now, and with freezing temps predicted both nights this weekend I think we are going to put on a good show.

I'm in. Roxann is coming along but won't be riding due to her upcoming foot surgery. We will bring the Hornbeck canoes along, so hopefully she can do a little paddling.

Yes it's looking really good.
I meant that the overnight freezes this weekend should produce great foliage for next weekend.

If you are going to be at dinner Friday evening, can you PM me or post here with number attending?
I may be able to get us in at Council Rock Brewery, at an outdoor seating area.

Thanks.

I'm 99% sure my wife is working at the vet's Friday night, she normally does so I'd say I'll unfortunatley need to skip eating with you guys after the ride and eat with our 5 dogs instead... If I didn't get home to feed them at a reasonable hour I'd get bit when I finally walk in the door, spoiled is an understatement... It's what happens when you are married 35 years and don't have kids...

A few last minute notes......

The weather forecast is perfect.

The leaves are turning beautiful colors.

Over the last week I've pre-ridden about 80% of what we will be riding. There are some stretches where the town highway departments have been out re-grading the dirt roads. They have loose dirt and stone sections that look more like midwestern gravel than our usual packed clay. They are also dusty because we have not had any rain here in the last week. Descending on the loose stuff can be a little tricky.

A word on Covid: This is a very low risk area of the country. I am not the Covid police. I do not ride with a mask. Almost the entire weekend will be outside with sun and good ventilation so risks are low....but by the same token everyone should do what they are comfortable with. If you feel more comfortable in a mask, I certainly won't be offended.
Note that the Village of Cooperstown has enacted a mandatory mask law for the center of town. If you visit Cooperstown this weekend you must wear a mask even out on the street.

Friday evening I am hoping to switch dinner to Council Rock Brewery, on Route 28 right down the hill from my house. Will update once I get confirmation. We will be eating outside. Friday evening looks warm, at least for this time of year.

I have had many PM"s and I think I have responded to them all. If I missed yours I apologize, please hit me up again.

Looking forward to a great weekend.

Friday dinner is now at Council Rock Brewery. Reservation 6:15 and we have to be there by 6:30.
Caveat: We have to get there on time or we are not going to be able to eat there.

Let's be rolling out of my driveway by 3:30 latest on Friday afternoon.

Thanks.

Thank you

Thank you to every one, who came from far and near to make this a great event.
The last 6 months have been rather grim but this was a great way to start bouncing back.
WE are already looking forward to next year!

Thank you for hosting Dirtphalt again this year, I know it was the highlight of this very unusual summer for me. The routes were stellar, the leaves were turning right on cue, the food was awesome and the camaraderie was even awesomer! We all owe you a debt of gratitude for giving us the perfect cycling form of distraction from everything going on in the world right now. THANK YOU!!

Thank you to our gracious host and his family for having us this weekend! The memories of Dirtphalt 2020 will be among the best of this otherwise forgettable year. Unexpectedly seeing old friends, finding out you’ve raced against fellow forum members for years, and meeting new friends (and putting faces with forum names) were wonderful highlights. Riding on roads I haven’t seen in nearly 40 years with great company, followed by incredible food and fun conversations, had me smiling all the way home. Can’t wait for Dirtphalt 2021!

Best wishes,
Greg
