Unfortunately, someone that didn't do a very good job, an auto shop - It's going off to a custom frame painter in November to get repainted in the same colors.

In general, painting carbon well can be a chore, especially when it needs to be as "flexible" as carbon on a bicycle really needs to be, so I don't really hold it against the first painter, but I would have expected somewhat higher quality than I received.

Well, I did it again...

Philip had a run of Drops made in Stainless, so I ordered one. Gets here in a month, allegedly.

Now the fun begins - I'm going to run an R8000 group on it, because I already have it, but am really waffling on color - I have plenty of Voodoo Blue paint, since I had to buy a quart last time around, but I'm thinking on steel, I kinda want bass-boat metallic dark red. What says TPL?

Tentative Build:
Frame: Steel Drop 7Six5
Paint: To be determined over many conversations over the next few weeks
Group: Shimano R8000
Brakes: EE
Crank: Rotor 3D24 w/ P2M
Bars: Zipp SL80 38CM
Stem: Zipp SL 130 -17deg
Seatpost: Zipp SL 27.2 0 Setback
Wheels: HED

Well, Most of this is right. Sorta. I pick up the frame from paint this week. Will be going eTap or Red over R8000. Rode the gfs bike with 9100 and just couldn't get over how the hoods felt.

Went with a "retro" Voodoo blue.

So. Long overdue bump and update to this. Pics incoming this evening after taking some half-decent ones.

I liked the way the steel felt so much that I sold the carbon frame to one of my good friends who had been lusting after it since letting him ride it exactly once. It’s the perfect blend of stiff and compliant.

I found that the eTap hoods were causing my hands to fall asleep after about 2 hours or so, and while I loved the simplicity of setup and adjustment, I went back to Campagnolo, because I knew that their ergonomics just work for me.

Current Build:

Frame: Steel Drop 7Six5

Paint: Voodoo Blau (Porsche PTS)

Group: Campagnolo Super Record

Brakes: Campagnolo Super Record

Crank: Rotor 3D24 w/ SRM

Bars: Zipp SL70 Aero

Stem: Zipp SL Sprint

Seatpost: Zipp SL

Training Wheels: HED Jet 4 Black, set up tubeless
Race Wheels: HED Stinger 4, Vitoria Corsa Speed
