Yeah, I understand...still a Raikonnen fan unti his retirement day!

I totally agree about Ricciardo and Verstappen! Ricciardo is great...Verstappen has drive!! He takes chances when no one else will.

I think Kimi would be better on a crap team. His interviews would be even better.

Fernando showed he can still drive when he got some time in the car. I fear MB will again prevail. Verstappen on the over under 5 wrecks that are reviewed by the stewards.......

Shameless plug - all practice sessions and qualifying as well as the races are available on the ESPN and WatchESPN apps. Coverage this year on ESPN/ABC is a joint production with Sky that includes their commentators.

Nice to see Haas, McLaren, Renault mixing it up for best of the rest in Practice 1, with Grosjean ending up P7. Ocon and Perez way down in 14th/16th - surprising to me but perhaps they had issues which I haven't read about.

Lots of chatter about Ricciardo going to Ferrari. Hoping he outscores Max this year and sticks with Red Bull. Thinking this is Kimi's last year at Ferrari regardless. As mentioned above I think it would be fun to see him with a smaller team that has some potential.

Halo is ugly, but not much more so than the cars in general.

1 hr of aired practice and 1 hr qualifying? Please, please let this be quality over quantity. F1 was my Fri, Sat, Sun bike room ritual, fewer hours means less accomplished. OK, maybe more accomplished, but I really enjoyed the announcing of Matchett and Hobbs with Will Buxton in the paddock.

Ask Massa if he thinks it's hideous.

The Indycar canopy is potentially more attractive, but maybe not so functional, particularly under artificial lights.

The Halo wouldn’t have helped Massa at all, that spring came in off center and hit his helmet. A canopy would have deflected it.

May have helped Bianchi but not sure anything would have saved him

I’m going to give the ‘new’ F1 only 3 opportunities to capture me this year. I’ve been an F1 fan ever since I discovered it in the late 50s and have gone to great lengths to observe it and have loved it. Until this year. I just got through watching the free practice on ESPN and disliked most aspects of the TV coverage, particularly the commentators. Regardless of their individual personal experience, they are lifeless and boring. They pale in comparison to Hobbes, Buxton, Diffey and Matchett. Those guys truly brought race commentary to a very high level.

So I’ll watch quali tonight and the race tomorrow. If it doesn’t wind my wick, I’ll be done

.

Agree 100%. Could you imagine how boring pro cycling would be if a bike could make a rider dominate a race?
