Bon courage! It is a tough climb, especially in heat. From experience, it is a considerable satisfaction to have checked this one off the list . I’ve never done the descent to Malaucene.... guess I’ll have to go back.

Thanks for sharing, Greg! I know you have more fun planned for this trip. Eager to hear/see more of your adventures and live vicariously through them (at least for this summer).

Chapeau to anyone who does this climb. I have driven up the south side and down the north - I did not have access to a bike, so I had top take what I could get. I went on a weekday in October; not a lot of traffic of any kind. Of course, that was 20 years ago . . . .

My recollections include: photos don't really prepare you for how much of a moonscape the top third or more of the Ventoux is; it is always windy, hot or both; the Tom Simpson memorial with all the offerings to the cycling gods is more moving than I expected. By bike, car, e-bike or motorcycle, it is worth doing.
