Seatpost shim

I probably know the answer but...
I just received my new Litespeed Watia, nice!
Somehow I thought it used a 27.2 mm seatpost so I
I hung onto my Moots 27.2 layback post but....it actually takes a
31.6 mm post, anyway I guess I need to find a post but
was wondering if a 31.6 to 27.2 shim would be OK, Canecreek
makes one.
Thanks!

IMHO the shim will be fine. You "may" feel that the 27.2 is softer than the 31.6 depending on your weight and style. But if that feeling is negative, it will surely be offset by the positive feeling of how good the moots layback looks and works.

I have a Cane Creek shim in my Soulcraft. Beautifully made. If they have them in your size, get one. Tip: misalign the slot of the shim and the slot of the seat tube say, 11 and 12 o'clock. Helps prevent water and dirt from reaching the post.

Also, you'll have to increase the torque used to cinch up the seatpost clamp othewise the post will slip. I think it's due to the additional wall thickness of the shim.

I’ve used a Problem Solvers shim, also worked just fine.

I had a cheap alloy shim creak on me, but have had good luck with a Cane Creek alloy and also a cheap plastic shim on my Moots to go from 30.9 to 27.2. I have a 30.9 carbon post, but vastly prefer the compliance of the 27.2.

I really like the Delrin (plastic) seatpost shims from U.S.E. feels like it protects your frame and seatpost - and if any part is going to to get damaged from poor fit, it is going to be the cheapest - the shim.

Not sure how it could really be damaged though - used one for years and years and moved from bike to bike with no issues.

I'll second Problem Solvers. I have a couple for mountain bikes (so I don't need a different dropper when I get new frames). They've held up great for years.

You can custom anodize (aka Sharpie) the top black if the silver doesn't match your look.

Fwiw I’m using a metal shim on my Peg
It’s 30.0 shimmed to 27.2 because I didn’t want to go $$ purist for the WR Composti.

I can’t recall the brand but I think came creek or problem solvers

The post is carbon so there’s paste on it.

The slot is forward exactly opposite of the seattube slot

Zero issues the past ten years

Same here, 16 years of seatpost silence on my BLE. I believe it's a USE and the seatpost is a Woundup carbon.

Shim

Thanks all, mostly worried about damaging the frame and voiding the warranty or something, sounds like it should not be an issue.
