Let's do something stupid together.

Let's do something stupid together to break up the winter boredom that's setting in..

Here's the challenge:

1. Plot out some sort of stupid ride - stupid hard, stupid long, stupid boring - whatever..

2. Tell us what it is and why it's stupid.

3. Post the stupid route.

4. Set a stupid "get it done by" date.

5. Report back w pics of the stupidity.

And remember, stupid is as stupid does - choose your own adventure and revel in it.

-----------------------------

Here's mine: https://www.strava.com/routes/2898267751713452232 - edited to be a bit less scatalogical...

It's a stupid attempt at climbing 10,000 ft. in as few miles as possible and as close to my driveway as possible without just riding the same hill over and over again - instead it's an out and back riding every ramp at least twice. Some of the hardest sections come at the end, which is stupid. The only part that's not stupid is it passes a St*rbucks at some point, so I can drink some stupid coffee w a stupid amount of sugar in it mid-ride. I also should be on a 33/46 by 10-36 and a 15ish lb bike, so that'll help. I need a dry weekend day - or a dry afternoon.. Trying this in the wet or dark would be really stupid. And I'll say I'm gonna get it done before Dec 5.

--------------------------

I believe the above criteria are the same ones used by Bicycling ( and every other cycling ) magazine that I have seen for articles that they publish…

Someone started it, and somehow managed to convince others to join, now it's become a yearly thing. I did it twice before I finally said to myself, enough is enough,
this is stupid. It just came and went a week or two ago.

That route looks like some sort of hieroglyph or rune that was drawn while the author was tripping on LSD.

Devil's Pitchfork

Here's one that's a good fit for this thread. In the Pyrenees around Luchon. I stayed with the Pyractif folks when they were still operating just up the road. I was there when this author and photographer came for the weekend to do this ride.

Called the Devil's Pitchfork, included a bunch of serious climbs, all used in the Tour in various years.

But don't be thinking I'm gonna do this. I may be stupid, but I'm not that stupid. Or at least as stupid as Clean. At least on most days.

Once I heard of Rickey Gates’ Run Every Street project, I’ve had that in mind for a series of rides. Even though I know there would be streets in my city that are not worth riding.

Up and down Mt Lemmon two times on the same ride!

This ride is stupid because it has approximately 60 miles of climbing, with each 30mi climb being nearly nonstop. It’s also stupid because it’ll be very cold up top most likely and quite nice down low.

Before DEC 11, I will ride this on my 650b bike.

I thought it was a dead crow in the middle of the road

Riding a route mimicking a folded protein is not what the Folding At Home founders had in mind.

I dig it. Just watch out for all of the crossings. And randoms sipping lattes and not watching where they are going. And don't forget the pics.

We have a series of those in Portland - https://ridewithgps.com/ambassadors/...-lions?lang=en

I'm just condensing it and doing it all even closer to home.
