i'm so desperate for North East riding.
the road, the dirt, from NW Connecticut through the Hudson Valley, Catskills and the Berkshires.
All day, up and down through cattle pasture-land and cornfield, sheltered by overhanging trees and waterstops every 10-15 miles. it was a pick-your-own roller-coaster-route... nearly every other weekend from mid-spring to late fall, there was a COLOSSAL dirty event, or race in Vermont... on Vermont dirt. sandy, AND MUDDY the BEST OF BOTH KINDS!! its seemed like nearly every other weekend in Vermont. i miss the riding back there. road and dirt. i think its the best in the world. i went to Kingston NY for a group ride once, and we rode down to Mohaunk Mt. and rode through the trails. INTENSE!!! AWESOME!!! right west of New Paltz NY. I'm so eff'ing desperate for decent riding. |

We have it really good here in upstate NY.
So good that I’m sure we forget to be appreciative enough of how good it is. Thanks for the reminder and come visit! |

The Northeast riding is indeed world class. Some of the best places to ride though unfortunately have a long winter. I'm already looking forward to the Spring!

I attended a recumbent rally there in the mid-2000s. Amazing riding and definitely some of the very fastest descents I've ever made. Disc brakes were uncommon then on 'bents, and I'd had a custom Ti disc fork made for mine, so I could brake later into the curves. It was a totally awesome riding location.

I'd be keen to set-up a Paceline ramble this summer in the finger lakes. Rent an airbnb, ride bikes, bbq, beer. repeat. sounds like fun.

I'd have to agree it's a fantastic place to ride bikes.

Besides the drivers, we really do have great cycling.

Having been born and raised in Connecticut I have been lucky enough to experience riding up there a bit. Roller coaster is a good way to describe Conn. Further north the mountains. Western Conn was my stomping grounds.

I remember that mohonk climb real well! Looped out of New Paltz to ashokan via shogunks and as it was getting dark we decided to take a "shortcut". |

lol thanks for the pick-me-up, I was looking out the window at snow last night after a call with friends in California and I needed a reminder that things aren't too bad here in the Northeast

This would be amazing. I'd dig seeing another area of the country.

I formerly lived in Litchfield County, NW Connecticut. Best riding I've experienced! There was such an abundance of roads-both gravel and paved- that it was easy to alter courses and never get bored with the same routes.
