Since you just need something for the one bike, you could make something custom.

I would be tempted to make something with PVC pipe. Maybe something that cradles the front wheel while vertical and has a pipe located at the center of the rear wheel that keeps it from touching the wall. It could be completely free-standing, but I think a single small wall anchor would be a good idea for keeping things steady.

Could be a fun project...

LOL. I know the same thing used to happen to me. Super irritating.

Considering too that we have Gallery White Eggshell walls, it would leave very light black blemishes from the Tires. Super pissed off Mrs.Shortsocks. All we did was pushed out the two grippers that hold the Top Tube and it touched the fork Just enough to keep it in place. Hasnt happened since. But Im in the same boat. Bugged the heck out of me.

someone post a rack a while back that hooked your wheel then folded over flat against the wall. I don't recall the name but it looked pretty cool and the bikes didn't stick so far out into the room

I know what I'm going to try when I get home! Good tip. Thanks!

I have a topeak dual touch that works nicely in our smallish apartment (although I do hear that it peels some paint off the ceiling when you move it. time will tell).

For people using the clung system, what do you do about the rear wheel? Some sort of tray, or maybe a base board? I kinda feel like I would like this system more than my current one, but worry about marring the wall.

You could set it up so that it's not fully vertical and the rear wheel hits the floor just before it hits the wall. May even make it more secure.

Those are what I just used--the alcove where I was hanging was a little shallow, so I needed to get tighter to the wall. They are a pretty nice product--you can set them up to swing right or left.

i have one of these: http://www.amazon.com/Minoura-DS-210.../dp/B0054XBUDY

i could have sworn it was a lot cheaper than that when i bought it a few years ago... but it's stable, relatively clean looking, and doesn't mess up your walls or anything like that (it's completely free-standing).

This seems straight forward and better than a plain hook...
