interesting question, also how to measure luxury.

according to the munich institute for statistics, in 2013 there were 1990 vehicles registered capable of going faster than 300km/h. this number probably increased since and does not include the cars which are in the city, but are registered somewhere else, as one can spot quite a few arabian or russian registered luxury cars in town. Now munich is popular among the rich and beautiful, but Monte Carlo, Dubai or London it aint.

the Sun did a clever trick: scan instagram for pics and check the geotag. the most supercars were spotted in:
London, Moscow, LA, NY, Dubai. Munich, for example, didnt make top 20 (Stuttgart did, and having worked for Porsche, i know why - every Carrera, Turbo and RS ever made will roll through the roads close to the museum at some point, and the number of petrolhead pilgrims with cameras from all over the world there is staggering). Vancouver is not on the list.

Curious, so where, geographical area, is your observation leading you to believe there are more high end cars?
As a former Vancouver boy, I am surprised--I remember when I high-end Porsche was a rare thing. Of course that was before global hot money... The city where I saw the most supercars was London--but it really does sound like Vancouver has changed--HuffPo says highest concentration in North America, although this may be puffery:

Not super obscure - but I saw a first generation Acura NSX out yesterday. Looked to be in great shape.

Not terribly obscure but first one I've seen in North Carolina......out riding in the countryside battling headwind and I saw a red Lamborghini Aventador coming my way. Gave the driver a thumbs up.

Awesome-thought these had all gone to the great automobile graveyard.

First car was about the same year Morris Oxford. It died an untimely death when the crankshaft pulley flew off, puking the oil at freeway speed--followed by the dreaded bearing knock... Kids today don't get to have that kind of fun anymore.

You don't need $150,000 to drive a McLaren....

Saw from the rear a blacked out sedan I didn't recognize. Walking up to it was badged everywhere Alpina, trunk logo, wheels logos. Walking up front I could see it it was a BMW but still no BMW markings anywhere. Went home and Googled, it's a current B7 but the only ones I see are with BMW badges. The car looked the business.

I just got back from a family trip to Vancouver -- and I was keeping an eye out for supercars. I hadn't been for 20 years and definitely there are a lot more fancy cars out flexing in the city.

Here's what I saw (it was a Saturday and Sunday with nice weather, just coincidentally the places where we were going, with the best area being Robson/Jervis):

-Rolls Phantom and Wraith
-Ferrari 812 Superfast (black improves this car IMO), 488, 458 both in resale red
-Bentley Mulsanne, many Conti GTs
-Aston DB11, & a surprising # of Vantage convertibles
-Mclaren 570 Spider
-Lambos of course: 2x Huracan, Performante, and a purple spider that my wife even liked
-new 991.2 GT3RS, and GT3 (my choice of all these if manual)
-surprising to me anyway, many Alfa 4C coupes and spiders
-plus dozens of the "sensible" choices like R8s and 911 Turbos

The coolest car for me was an '80s RHD Toyota Century, and otherwise I din't luck out seeing much JDM stuff.

For sheer density of cool cars per square mile, Monte Carlo has to be up there. It's just a place where people stack money.

I've only been there once, on a humdrum weekday in the summer, suffered Ferrari fatigue very quickly, and was most impressed by an RS2 parked curbside like a plebe.

Wow...I have NO idea what that is. Something Japanese? Early version of an MR2?

That's a Honda Beat. Interesting that it doesn't have any emblems on it...
