Need help on adjusting 11 sp XT RD

I am switching my MTB from 3x10 SRAM X5 to 1x11 XT with an 11-46T cassette.

I got it set up so far that I can shift the first 9 gears fine, but I tried to shift into the 10th gear, (37T, the first oversize one.) The top part of the cage is in contact with the largest cog. I think I am missing something but not sure. I tried adjusting all the screws as well as tension but it doesn't help.

Have someone experienced this before?

Could it be that my stock RD hanger cannot support large cassette and I need a goat link from Wolftooth?

Whats the frame?

It seems that way--when I set up my xt RD on my mtb no adjustment needed.

Did you mess around with the b screw?

2012 Trek Cobia. So maybe the RD hanger was not meant to support these large cassettes.

So based on some YT videos and Wolftooth's description, seems like that is what I need:

Bet your chain is too long..1by don't need the chain length that is needed for a multi chainring set up..Can you get it onto the largest cog at all? Do that and take a picture but I'd bet the chain is too long.

Did you shorten the chain when you went 1by?

Thanks, I did big/big plus 2 link measurement. So that is not correct in 1x setup?

No, safe gig-big combo(or in your case, single CR and big cog combo) are critical. I did some 1by conversions, say take off the 53/39 and put on a 42t and needed to shorten the chain..If the chainlength is proper, then probably rear der hanger length..

I've used a Roadlink on two bikes (not 1x), to clear a 30t rear cog with a standard length derailleur cage. It will likely give you the clearance you need, but as others have said, chain length may need to be shortened.

When the RD cage angles forward (while on the big cog in the back) you may have enough clearance. When I switched my MTB from 2x9 to 1x11, I sized the chain by going through the RD and it worked. Some hangers are shorter than others, and the Roadlink will fix that.

So jtaketa was right. It was the b-screw. I didn't push it in enough.

Thank you all for the help.

Late night mistake.
