Recommend a wheelset for me

I bought a new bike last year (Cannondale Synapse DA) and now I'd like a second set of (disc brake) wheels so that I can switch out for road and gravel. I've been looking around a lot, and I'm a little overwhelmed by all the choices out there, and the huge variability in pricing. So I'm turning to the Paceline hivemind for advice or suggestions.

This is what I'm looking for:

--fairly light (sub 1500 gms)
--smooth and QUIET hubs, in BLUE! (the bike's only bling). Center lock
--tubeless-capable
--possibly some aero benefits?? so perhaps 30-40 mm rim depth (but I really don't know if this is actually worth it--wheel companies certainly say it is).
--around $2,000
--these would be the road wheels, not the gravel wheels.

I had been looking at the I9.35 (Industry 9), but it seems, from reading about them, that the rear hub is very loud when freewheeling, which I hate.

Thanks!

I9.35

I love my I9.35- they are awesome wheels.
I don't notice the noise to be too loud, but I pedal most of the time.

DT Swiss ARC 1100 48 or ERC 47. ERC is wider and a touch heavier. ARC is more aero.

Both to your door <$2k

DT Swiss hubs get loud once you upgrade to 36 or 54t ratchets.

Probably the best bet for the OP is to get easily serviced hubs like the DTs or I9 and pack them with grease every two weeks or so. Will take 5 mins tops and will ensure that they stay quiet and lubricated.

Rims for disc brakes are all pretty great now, even the ones from China. The OP should have no problem getting exactly what they want through a sub-$2k custom build as long as they're willing to put in the effort of regreasing.

If you've gotta have silence and you've gotta little change, I'd build a set around Onyx hubs. Instant engagement, sprag clutch (no noise), great color availability.... though they are heavy (by fancy hub standards) in the thru-axle varieties.

Yeah the rims would have to be sub-350g to have any chance to get the entire wheelset below 1500g

However since all the extra mass is at the hub there shouldn't be too much performance loss from the weight gain, while Onyx hubs are incredible.

$2k is a lot of money. You should be able to find something good.

Rolf Ares 4 or 6 ES disc with decals to match your color. They use a hub made by White. 1495 grams.

Quiet is subjective.

You can get 303 Firecrest for <$2k but they are (IMO) inferior to the DT 1100s. Get old gen 3.4s with I9 hubs at mybikestore for $1700.

Spend another $500 and get the 303 NSW tubeless.

Get Chinese rims for $600 and have a competent builder do his thing. You can get complete builds from Light Bicycle with DTs for under $1100.

Still don’t see a better value than the DTs.

if you're going to swap wheels, you should get the same hubs and rotors or you may need to adjust the calipers every time you swap the wheels. Just about any wheelbuilder can put any rim to it.
