I attended the September 2018 Jumble and was very glad I had flown in to NYC, and therefore couldn't buy anything substantial! I came home with three pairs of nice socks :-)

I'll be going to the Brooklyn Jumble for my first time this week. What can I expect to find for sale there? Is it fancy high-zoot stuff or more vintage odds and ends? Both? Want to set my expectations correctly... Thanks!

There were a lot of discounted small items, like the three pairs of socks I got. And there were also some very cool old vintage stuff. I saw a Legnano and a Schroeder, both of which makes dear friends rode when we were in college 50 years ago. Sadly I am the only one of us who still has his college bike

Going to something like this with 'expectations' is a bizarre approach, imo. It's a swapmeet. You might find something that catches your eye, you might not. Maybe a single component can spark a new build for you, maybe not. If you're shopping for something in particular (ie, a commuter bike for yourself or a friend) then you *might* strike lucky, no harm no foul if you don't.
Relax, smile, talk bikes with the vendors if you wanna. It's a friendly place.

Mr B is right. Above all it's a (usually) nice Saturday spent milling about, talking shop, and digging. Over the years I've been as a buyer and a seller, and it's fun both ways. Shawn Kog usually has some rad stuff, some folks from Bilenky were there last year... but also expect milk crates full of Acera and kickstands. The fun is in the unknown!
