Yeah, I thought they'd work together enough to at least hold off the pack, but obviously I was wrong. The mens 2019 Amstel was similar.

At some point, you've got to ask yourself, "Which is better 2nd or 8th?"
Neither one should have stopped pedaling. Both could have had a podium. That was super weird. From 30km on, I looked at Marianne Vos doing nothing but hiding, and I thought, "She's isolated. She needs the pack to bring it back together." No one was going to beat her in a head to head sprint**. She got lucky that the pack did just that. ** when she's not celebrating with her hands in the air. |
