Celeste powder coat

I have come across a 1980ish Bianchi frameset that I might like to restore. There is some rust and some poorly executed touch ups. If I buy it, it will get powder coated by a local guy who did an excellent job on a Battaglin for me. So the question is does anyone know if the Bianhi Celeste is available in powder? My powder guy has about 15 stock colors, any other colors the customer has to supply.

And placing a foot into the Bianchi Celeste rabbit hole, Johnniecakes was never seen again.

There's a huge variety of "celeste" over the years. Bianchi has been anything but consistent with it.

Here's mine that was powdercoated with RAL6027:

This is more on the "bluish" end of celeste; I've seen other hues that are more olive.

I’m not sure Celeste is a real color. At least not in Bianchi terms.
Yes, we all know what color it is, but it varies a LOT. Every color mixing greens and blues equal Celeste in their eyes.

Anyway, I love all of them, so I guess it doesn’t really matter to me.

Good luck

This looks very similar to the "robin egg blue" that Analog Cycles uses to cerakoate a lot of fun products. Looks great and I'm considering doing my bike accessories in that color. Thanks for the RAL code

I'm sure you all know that the original Bianchi Celeste was the result of a utilitarian mixture of WWII surplus paint.

A while back I googled this question. Turns out that Bianchi mixes a new celeste every year so there’s great variability. However, I found a few threads that proposed some excellent candidates with RAL numbers attached. Look around - it’s kind of interesting.

Not so, that is also part of the mythology.

I saw my first Bianchi in about 1977 when my friend Ian came over from Melbourne with his new racing bike.... with tubulars and Campagnolo, no less!! We broke into the Norwood velodrome by climbing over the fence (with our bikes) and raced laps all afternoon. My bike was much heavier than his.

What I remember most is the polish of the alloy and the colour of the frame. As a marketing tool it works. And yes, there's dozens of Celeste shades and tones.

They also have a Bianchi red and a Bianchi blue. They're s#$%.

Well, it's all I could afford in the mid-80s. And I happen to think it looks pretty good. I need to take some photos of the complete rebuild.

Haha. No offense intended.

Natch, there's a bunch of differing blues and reds they've used, also.
