Finally joined the Moots club
Found on CL about an hour away, 2009 Vamoots. I bought without wheels, pedals, or saddle, that seat post is a pain to install a saddle on. Came with everything else, so I have Shimano on a bike for the first time in a long time. Rides niiiice, at least for the easy 20 I did this morning. Need to change cranks/rings, might change fork for more clearance, 28’s are very tight. Ari |

Congrats and welcome to the club.
Fine looking Vamoots. The seatposts are a bit fiddly, but at least you only have to dial it in once. |

Congrats! I'm also new to the Moots club; my Vamoots feels like a neo-classic, possibly a "forever" bike.

Congrats.
I had to change the brake caliper (Campagnolo) to get more vertical clearance on my ouzo pro. The max is Vittoria 25 on the C17 rim width |

Welcome to the club.
Nice looking build. Surprised you got 28’s on there. 25 is the largest mine has comfortable clearance on in the rear. |

My Moots is my favorite bike and I always like seeing another, especially when I think it might fit me.

Those are Maxxis 25's, test fit for GP 5000 TL 28's is close up front, but didn't work in the rear due to FD braze on adapter. I have a new adapter coming in a few days, so hopefully that issue will be settled. For road tires, the GP 5000's setup tubeless in 28 seem to be the sweet spot, but I can live with the 25's.

Anyone replace the fork on this era frame? Wondering about the rake since Moots says 50, but that seems uncommon and long

Welcome to the club.
I have an 05 ish and replaced with a moots fork when they were on clearout. Handling improved with fork change Had 25s on it and recently switched to 28s, a bit tight in the rear, but lots of space up front, could probably safely fit a 30. Tires are pirellis on old mavic open pros. |

What's the issue? I've always preferred the 1st gen EDGE/ENVE seatpost hardware.

Welcome to the club! I’ve replaced forks twice now. Both times with an ENVE fork with 45-50mm rakes. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

I have a 50cm circa 2013 / 2014 (?)
One thing I noticed over the years with the Vamoots is that they have tweaked measurements ever so slightly. There are some minor differences between 2009 and 2013 for example. Not sure if you're looking at newer published stuff or have spoken directly with someone at Moots about what rake was intended for your specific bike. I have a Moots 50 on mine as spec'ed from the factory. Great fork and I like the matching paint. Only downside is I'd like to change my white frame decals to a different color, but the white fork decals are under clear. Good luck with your fork search. |
