Campag Silver Athena 11spd Ergos: ‘Ultra-shift’ instead of ‘Powershift’

Here here. And for the record Peter is a Campagnolo god, not an infallible one, but a community minded, humble, and honest one. Attacking the community is not a great way of joining it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Last edited by jc031699; 05-02-2021 at 11:24 AM. |

My last five bikes have run Campy 10 and 11 speed systems and all have been trouble free with guidance and repair from Peter. I admire his advice and humor! Does that make him a god? No, but it makes him a good person atmo.

I just did this conversion, swapping the lever blades from an Athena Power Shift lever to Record Ultra Shift levers. As noted above, for PS the shift lever the return spring attaches to a hole in the lever pivot bracket, and the US shifter in the photo above is missing that hole. However, I started with recently purchased Record/Chorus Ultra 11spd lever body assemblies (EC-RE100 & EC-RE101), and the shift lever pivot bracket came already with the holes that the PS springs attach to. My guess is that Campagnolo did this to reduce the parts they have to manufacturer and inventory (same pivot bracket for all lever). Iit sure come in handy for this conversion, to be able to switch both the shift and brake blades, both from US to PS and PS to US. Now a question: This YouTube video for Ultra Shift lever overhaul was useful when disassemblying/reassembling the levers. But the internal parts in my levers are a little different than shown in the video. Specifically, the video shows some metal flat washers between the bottom plastic disc and the conical "finger" spring, but on my lever assemblies the conical spring sat directly on the plastic washer. Were my lever assemblies missing parts, or did Campagnolo change the design? |
