OT Lost most of my Music with IOS 12

Updated my IOS to 12 on my iPad Mini and all my music was gone. Did a sync with my computer and about 60% of the songs showed up, but over 400 are still gone. It looks as though the ones that I have back are not ones purchased through iTunes, but rather ones I loaded in the distant past via CDs, etc.

Any suggestions as to how to fully recover my tunes onto my iPad will be gratefully accepted. I tried what I've found via Google and no luck so far. It's pretty clear I'm not the only one with the issue though. This feels close to theft to me.

Is there aftermarket software that would let me drag and drop my songs from the computer to the iPad? Or is there a way to go back to IOS 11 and get all the songs back that way? I only updated because Apple pesters you so much, but I should just continue to trash the update messages.

Thanks

Need a little bit more info, as to what computer OS you're running, whether you do backups via icloud or other online methods, etc. etc.

But since you mentioned that the songs missing look to be purchased from iTunes you might have to do a complete signout and sign back in, then doing a manual toggle of the "show apple music" in settings.

See last suggestion here:

I had to do this for a lot of my apps and music the last time I updated the OS, pain in the ass but eventually worked. Iphone 6s, sync using itunes on a Windows 7 PC.

Have stubbornly refused to update iOS since then.

Good luck

I haven’t upgraded to 12 yet. I am going to guess and say it’s an iCloud issue. When you upgrade the OS it asks you sign into iCloud. Maybe you didn’t do that or somewhere there’s a box to check or uncheck to release your music back to the phone.in your shoes I would explore the settings app under iTunes and iCloud

I have found iCloud and sharing between devices to be very confusing at times, especially when just using the free account.
