Even when DeChambeau weighed less he was very full in the face. Plus he did not put on all muscle.

Yesterday on a sports radio station I heard an interview with a Sports Illustrated writer who wrote an article about DeChambeau's weight and distance gain. In February before it was such a big story he decided to follow Bryson's program for 3 months. His goals were to gain 30 lbs and 20 yards -
can't remember exactly.

He said eating the 5000 calories a day was really hard for him at 165 lbs. The diet is really heavy on eggs and lots of pasta. The writer cheated with beer a few times.

The workout is 3 times a day but it is different kinds of workouts. One hour per day 6 days a week of high intensity training. Not all weights but box jumps and similar type exercises. 45 minutes a day of yoga. 30 minutes a day of golf exercises. The writer lives in CT and had 45 days where golf courses and gyms were shut down which really curbed his gains. He did creative workouts in his backyard with fire wood and other convenient objects.

In the end he gained about 18 lbs and increased his driving distance by 10 yards. From 290 yards to 300 yards. He is now on a slimmed down program and has picked up a couple more yards.

Cholesterol was the same before and after.

The article was turned in a month ago.

Jeff

As can watching Bryson putt. Last week I timed him at almost two minutes to putt, another reason why he doesn't like the camera on him. It "ruins his brand".

Take any large gathering (the newest oxymoron), how many people in it could do an iron cross on the gymnastics rings? A lot of people can do sports badly or slower, gymnastics has some routines a huge percentage of the population cannot do at all.

Brooks Kopek has criticized DeChambeau's very slow play in the past year. Some other notorious slow play golfers are JB Holmes and Kevin Na.

The PGA needs to enforce the clock more.

Wait. Really? "Win at all cost mentality." Is a flag for performance enhancing drug use? C'mon, man.

And what "suspect" doctors are you speaking of?

PGA fairways (if you can hit them) are worth 30-40 yards vs a normal dog track. No kidding. I played after a US Open.. no joke.

If you look at their carry numbers, most are not off the chart. Bryson is hitting it far, though but it doesn’t necessarily translate to wins. It’s still about the short game.
