OT: sneaker afficianados , do you trust 6pm?
I really like my Onitsuka Mexico 66 sneakers. Fashionably retro without being overboard. Last time I bought them (3 years ago), I got them at Lord & Taylors, which is a retailer I can trust.
L&T doesn't currently carry them, and I've come across 6pm.com. The goods are a lot less expensive, but part of me is wondering if they are actually legit. Anyone with experience could shed some light on this? Thanks in advance |

Never ordered from them, but they do have a 60-day return policy (you pay shipping) so if you get them and they don't seem legit you're only out shipping back.
Have seen mixed reviews but that doesn't surprise me as most online retailers have the same. Hope it works out! |

Have you tried Zappos?
https://www.zappos.com/p/onitsuka-ti...roduct/7193642 I looked up those sneakers....sheesh! A buddy had a pair when we were in middle school! I was more of an Adidas SL 76 (green & yellow) guy.

6pm is completely legit. They're the "clearance" division of Zappos. Zappos is a subsidiary of Amazon.

thanks everyone. especially good to know about what the corporate structure is
probably explains why they don't have the livery I want Quote:
Those SL 76 are rather striking, too. I like how bold they manage to be bold without being over-the-top. I think I choose Asics only b/c I was a runner, and that was the brand I really liked (and wasn't always able to afford). I was too broke to be able to afford a pair (of any decently stylish sneakers, as opposed to running shoes) back when I was in high school in the early noughts. Even though I have always splurged a bit more on clothing (mostly on sportcoats and such) once I was gainfully employed, I didn't fully feel comfortable with paying more than $70/pair until quite recently (alas the bargain hunting). |

yep...those are the ones!
Back in the old NASL days, my favorite player on the Seattle Sounders wore them....field was astroturf and turf soccer shoes had not yet been developed, so they all wore running shoes!

And then you mentioned NASL, and I thought, of course, @Ozz is the dude whose team is either Sociedad (or is it Athletics Club, please don't skewer me). Of course you'd get the footie references. Unfortunately, the only Sounders players I know are the MLS ones, namely Dempsey (legend), Morris, and (I think) Nagbe. |

If you’re ever in Louisville, the 6pm/Zappos outlet is great. I don’t think I’ve ever left without some random bargain.

A great turf shoe back in the early-1980s was the Adidas Beckenbauer Special.
They were revolutionary at the time with the unique extended padded tongue. |

today's Mundial comes close (same sole) but I was never able to get the fit right with the different toe. Patrick made a nice turf shoe as well (Kevin Keegan's?)...favorite cleated shoe ever was the Patrick Michel Platini...extended tongue, kangaroo leather, molded sole and gold stripes....perfect fit for me.

Dumb question, but what's the issue with just getting them from onitsukatiger.com directly?
