Crank install chainrings seem close
I'm installing Campagnolo Chorus cranks 53/39 on an Merckx MXL. Italian Record bottom bracket 103mm. After install the inner ring is close to the frame.

How close? Maybe a few more details, aluminum crank?
The install should be a no-brainer, right?

What BB are you using? The proper Chorus/Record sealed BB is 102mm.

Wrong taper on sq taper BB? Or worn to the point of climbing too far on the taper both a possibility...

On some frames 3mm is all you will get.

After digging through the net it looks like 3-4mm is what clearance on this frame is normal.
52cm Merckx and large chainstays make it close Thanks everyone |

As has been mentioned..3mm is fine..BUT remember to install on a DRY spindle and use a torque wrench..Grease on crank BOLTS and WASHER but not on spindle..102mm BB spindle, BTW.
