Oh, no! I was just listening to Lovely Day last night.
I was playing some classic soul for my kids while we played cards and telling them about how it influenced musicians that they now like. Lovely Day was one of the examples. RIP Mr Withers. Thanks for the great music! Texbike |

When I was dropping off my kids at school earlier this school year, our main theme song was Lovely Day. Always put smiles on their faces. RIP.

i first encountered bill wither's music when i heard a song of his, grandma's hands, and recognized the intro guitar riff, which dr dre lifted for the beat for no diggity. i have great memories and positive associations with both songs
just started re-watching the wire: another great song of his, use me, is featured in the first episode an incredible writer and performer. the doc about how and why he quit the music biz is worth checking out rip |

Wallace Roney, Ellis Marsalis, now Bill Withers. What's crazy is that whenever I see the news like this the first thing I look for is whether or not it was Covid related. Sad times
