Sparks, MD riding route recommendations

As has generated fantastic routes in the past, I’m once again asking the Paceline for some route recommendations:

45-70 mile road routes in and around Sparks, MD.

I’ll be on 30mm road tires.

Thanks folks.

Lots of great options

Most of my rides go through Sparks area outbound/inbound. PM me for some ideas.

The Maryland Classic race actually starts in Sparks and heads north into some awesome riding before dropping down into the city of Baltimore. I dare you to do the Prettyboy reservoir loop twice like they do.

I used to be a Borard member of the Baltimore Bicycling Club (https://www.baltobikeclub.org/). A lot of rides originate in the Sparks area or slightly north of there. Ride up through horse country to points north toward Gettysburg and surrounds, or west toward (and beyond) the Catoctins. It's pretty good, IMO....

EDIT: Oh, Stay away from Ivy Hill Rd....

PM sent

With updated routes starting from Sparks mapped on RWGPS. Good luck! Bring your climbing legs/gears. While there isn’t much in the way of massive mountains, it’s not that hard to do 10k feet over 100 miles as you work your way in/around the Prettyboy and up towards the PA state line. It’s no wonder that some of the first time racers at the Maryland Classice were surprised with how tough some of the terrain was!

Even though it shows as a solid green line in Google Maps, Pulaski HWY is in fact not a good route to anywhere.
