shimano 9sp dura ace 10sp tiagra compatibility
hi guys....im building up a winter bike and had a quick question....will a 10sp tiagra 4700 rear derailleur work with dura ace 9 sp 7700 downtube shifters in index mode ?
im guessing it will but i just wanted confirmation from some of the more knowledgeable folks here thanks ! |

10 speed Tiagra has a cable pull ratio that is not cross compatible with older 9 and 10 speed shimano.
A 9 speed shimano MTB derailleur will work, and I think they are still widely available. |

^^^what Darkmother said. 4700 is it's own cable pull (unfortunately) so you'd need those specific matching shifters for things to work correctly.
IMO i'd avoid any newer 9spd derailleur with a Shadow Plus style routing and opt for the older style like an XT RD-M751. They shift alot more smoothly in my shop experience. |

Pretty confusing to look through but this page is the archive for their tech info.
https://productinfo.shimano.com/en/archive This looks way more organized than it used to be though, someone is doing some good work on the website. Last edited by benb; Today at 02:01 PM. |
