Deerfield Gravel Weekend in July

I'm working as a guide on this weekend tour in early July. It's not associated with D2R2 but obviously uses some of the same roads. But some great riding. PM me if you want details.

Thanks!

If you're already familiar with the Deerfield area and already can manage your own routes and don't mind camping someplace, then yeah, extravagant. But if you've never been to the area before and want to stay someplace nice, then consider what you get:
  • 3 nights at Deerfield Inn. Nice place–normally $260 per night
  • 3 breakfasts, 3 lunches, 3 dinners
  • Guides who know the area
  • Pre-planned routes
  • Van support
  • Snacks and everything else a van can carry on the ride
  • . . . and yeah, a water bottle and a jersey
Consider it in that context.

I did not think the price was anything crazy with all that is included. People need to get paid for their services and in the grand scheme of thing I doubt anyone is making a gigantic profit

Yep, that's my point.

Factor in the research I've done on routes and trips to pre-ride to make sure of a seamless experience and I don't feel this is outrageous.

Also keep in mind you're getting three nights lodging plus nine meals.

That "big event" they have there has one vibe. This will have a different vibe on the same roads. That's all.

Nor did I all things considered.

As an aside, it really annoys me when threads on Paceline are hijacked to complain about the cost of a service or item that is offered for sale by an forum advertiser or another forum member in a classified. If you don’t want to, or can’t afford to, pay for the service or item, just move on. There is no need to post gratuitous comments that come of as immature and perjorative.

Having been on larger trips elsewhere I personally think that’s a great deal. Of course, I do know the area and am slightly acquainted with Dave. He wouldn’t steer you wrong. I myself am still a bit tentative booking anything after the last year of troubles but if not for that I would jump on this. Maybe next year if it becomes an annual.

I went over to Deerfield last weekend . . .

. . . to ride these routes, iron out any flaws, and just generally enjoy the ride. I did indeed find a few spots that probably need to be eliminated, and a few new ones to add. Myself, friend Steve, plus AngryScientist and CNYrider stayed at a campground. But for the July 4th weekend tour we will be at the Deerfield Inn right in the middle of Historic Deerfield.

It's gonna be a GREAT weekend!

PM me if you're interested in going along.
