don't we all dream about riding along the coast of California? these are all your fears...your bike is literally coming apart, everything you rely on is failing you in your dream and your neglect of your local bike shop is revealed.

Yeah, that was The Edge, a molded plastic fairing that kinda looked like a BatCowl, hit the market around '77, got mine in '81 or '82. Long out of production, couldn't find any other images online.
I was never fast enough to get much aero boost from it, used it primarily to keep my fingers/hands warmer on cold commutes. Don't want to drift too far here, but there was another contemporary fairing, the Zzipper, which was more popular, and is still in production. Don't forget that second "z"! Mostly sold in recumbent configurations these days, but the upright version is still in production. https://www.zzipper.com/Products/prod_upright.php No affiliation. |

My Bike nightmares
My Bike nightmares
Not a nightmare but when living in Detroit we always at nite put all bikes in the garage before bed time. However more than once I would wake up and realize I had left my bike in a friends back yard when I was at his house. I would have walked home forgetting I had rode over. So right after breakfast I would go get I go get before it was gone YES!!! |
