How do you get Strava to show that youre getting a better workout? On a 6 miles mtn bike ride, it shows that I burn like 200 calories vs a 30 miles road ride which says i burn like a million, even though the mountain bike ride is WAY harder. Is there a way to set it to mountain bike mode?

I knew you'd love the Mariachi! Keep the mariachi light and cross-country, then build up a heavier trail bike (e.g. Kona Honzo, Santa Cruz Chameleon), then you have 2 tools for different trails.

Congrats! Great way to mix things up, and you'll see your bike handling skills improve immensely.

Have a blast.

I'm had a hard tail MTB that I use to bomb the local gravel trail on. Most other trails were really technical and a full suspension bike would have been better. I like speed and distance so I never got a full suspension bike and eventually gave the hard tail to a sister of mine.

What did you get and what kind of trails are you riding?

Methinks you were slacking on the road bike.

I'll never understand why anyone who could ride trails wouldn't. MTB is crazy fun. Just because you own a roadie doesn't mean it's all you can do. Having trails at my doorstep is basically my #1 reason for wanting to leave The City.

I just use the basic garmin paired with my Wahoo. It's actually really good data to have.

You are less likely to get hit by a car off-road riding.

That's very possible. The thing is, a lot of the time you CAN'T slack on an MTB w/o falling over.

Exactly, every MTB ride involves a minimum of an hour drive each way
