Cooling Systems for Indoor Riding
What ya got? I know there was a fan thread some time back but I could only find one from last year and all the links were broken except for this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...A2I4D0WO1JEMBA
But I'm just wondering what ideas y'all have. I used to use just a 'normal' fan that had reasonable power like a box fan only the whole thing was round and swiveled. |

Something like this one works quite well. The key is having the remote control so you can have that handy while working out. The big commercials ones can move a lot of air, but they also make a lot of noise.

I use one that looks basically like this one but it's called Lake Breeze.
https://www.amazon.com/Lasko-2264QM-...6MSA8CGAJQRNNW I've had it for probably a decade and it's plenty strong, I don't believe I have ever needed to turn it to high as medium is too much most of the time. |

I no longer drip on my bike. The fan is set up right in front of my bike's front wheel, tilted up right at my face and chest. The only negative is the noise. |

I never thought about the remote control I can see that being handy for sure.

Two large-ish fans, one floor directly in front of the bike & one standing, off to one side. One Wemo smart plug, one 3-way adapter into said plug, both fans into the adapter, one Alexa/Google mini. Turn on/off remotely without reaching for anything. Works great.

I bought a switched outlet on Amazon for <$10 and have both my fans plugged into it and use the remote that came with the outlet. One of my smarter moves
I have one fan on the floor directly in front of the bike, the other hanging from the ceiling above the first fan. Both have tilting mounts so I can get the air exactly where I want it. Sight line to my TV is obscured by the setup. |

Unheated garage (plus a New England winter).

I ride in an unheated basement. I still usually use a pedestal fan in the winter. It sits close enough to the bike that I can adjust the speed. I have never felt the need to cool my lower body, but maybe I'm missing something.

I really liked my large Vornado for indoor riding. Very powerful stream of air and a good range of speeds with a solid warranty. My window fans absolutely pale in comparison.

What works for me is Stanley branded fan that is in the shape of a snail. Has three speeds and is probably intended to dry floors. I have it placed at chest level.

I use one of these fans https://www.holmesproducts.com/fans/...C.html#start=3 along with either an open window 3-seasons or ac in the summer. The fan isn’t the most powerful but it’s thin and easily stashed away and most importantly has a remote.
I’ve also found for whatever reason a baselayer on top works better for temp/sweat mgmt than a jersey - at least for hard rides. easier rides, jersey or whatever works. Oh yeah I personally sweat like a pig so terry wristbands and some type of head band along with workout towels and bike protector. Last edited by MagicHour; 11-16-2019 at 01:33 PM. |

Any of the fans from Vornado are good, too. I have one of the medium size and it really blows.

I'm right there with you.
With the sun shining in and a good workout, I've been down to a T-shirt at 15 ℉. The sun makes a huge difference.
