Wow, $23,000 There has to be a tiny market for a canoe like that.

I think we've wandered from practical object into artwork at that point. I'm sure there's someone that wants it.

Side note, a mate took me on a kayak excursion a few summers ago and had an acceptable time. It made me look into getting one (I didn't) and I stumbled upon Cape Falcon Kayaks and their youtube channel; https://www.youtube.com/@capefalconkayak
https://www.capefalconkayaks.com/use...-for-sale.html I lost interest in boat ownership although I still find the build videos super soothing to watch; Skin-on-frame canoe build time lapse |

it's been way too long since I've had my kayak on the water.. West Coast is certainly different waters than the Mid-Atlantic..
This was "Bob's Fishing Hole" in Chesapeake, VA

Bikes are f-ing expensive these days.
You can get a really nice 2-person canoe for well under $5K or a nice solo canoe for $3500 or so, weighing 30 pounds. |

It wasn't until I took up fly fishing that I realized what a bargain cycling is.

No kidding. Is it me … or is it getting kinda hot in here? When D.H. Lawrence writes your copy ads…
“Her frame is storm-downed Ash and Walnut hand carved in fluid French curves, and lashed with hemp. Her skin is organic canvas, sealed with shellac and beeswax, and reinforced with woven cane. Included paddle is matching woods, with WR cedar in shaft and blade in ‘foam core’ construction. Overall weight, foot by foot, is the same as kevlar. Her rounded bottom is taken from modern race canoes, shortened. She harkens to whitewater kayaks, yet narrower. She is a boat to bring you alive, your body connected with her’s as she works with the waves and wind. Just as a barefooter seeks grounding, Tamboura’s all natural build allows immersion in the air and water.” |

Better act quickly if you're interested because the price has gone up $4000 since it was listed in Small Boats Magazines's classified 3 weeks ago. https://smallboatsmonthly.com/acadp_...n-frame-canoe/

Not surprising.
Almost all leisure activities have a high end market. The ceiling for some things does seem to continually get pushed further and further up though. Kind of crazy. Every time we think: "people would never pay that much money for xxx" - they do, and the ceiling on top end price just goes up again. Cycling is no different. Sure there are readily available $15k+ bikes, but if shopping smartly and practically, a person could get going in this sport for not too much money also.
