SRAM Dub question

I've been sourcing parts for a future CX bike build and have a question about Sram Dub - specifically wide vs standard width cranksets. The intended frame will either be a 2022/23 Boone or Crux. Which width crankset should I be looking for? Will either work depending on which BB you get (internal vs external?). Thanks for your help!

I don't think either of those frames require a wide crank. But it going 2x, could give you more tire clearance.

Good article posted above. The increased pedal width doesn't bother me, but I have mechanical knees. I use GRX cranks to get more range on my SRAM AXS drivetrain, but use 2mm washers to move the chain rings inward for a normal chain line. I like my Wheels Manufacturing thread together BBs with angular contact bearings - easy to install and adjust preload.

SRAM wide crank has a longer spindle so you have to use a wide FD with 2x.

wide

I would not use a wide crankset unless you need the extra stance width.
You can put all of the same gearing on a standard crankset. Even the 30-43.

Questions to consider:

Does your frame have Boost (i.e. 148mm inside) spacing?

How wide of a rear tire might you want to use?

I agree with John H. 100%, just my personal preference based primarily on chainline considerations, but also pedal clearance and shoe stance.

I'm not sure the Boone nor Crux come in Boost 148. Both should still be 142.

And the Wide FD and Cranks are also to allow a wider than 45mm rear tire. The 'normal' FD creates interference on the inner-side of the FD body.

Rear is standard 142 spacing. And 38mm would be the biggest tire for masters CX racing. And will be 1X gearing (xplr).

so sounds like the standard Sram Dub crankset is the way to go. Thanks for the help everyone!
