145mm Crankarms

02/23/2023
I read in Current Road Bike magazine that 145mm Crankarms are being ridden.
Any experience using less than 165mm crankarms on this group.
The reason I recall is that with 170mm up crankarms there is a large dead spot where little power is being produced. Due to the angle of the lower leg to the upper leg.
145mm arms reduce that dead spot resulting in a longer period of applied power. And the knees have less strain reducing or eliminating knee pain.
One needs to ride the entire article to gain the knowledge presented.
