I'm not reading too much into this story (yet). It was a case of patent law. As long as PCW didn't infringe on SRAM's patents, superficial resemblance between the two companies' products should not have played into the verdict. As bicycletricycle noted up thread, the details of the case published thus far are too thin to make any informed opinions.
