are RH Extralights that bad? I wanna try out RH at some point but prefer the black sidewall. I hear the standard casing is puncture prone enough

Ive had 2 sets of extra lights in the 38mm slick (cant remember what its called) they hold up very nicely imo and i rode them a lot during that time as well in fall / winter several hours each day for many months and then more sparingly over spring and summer.

Have no complains really. Puncture resistance was also okay but not bullet proof.

Can't wait to see the updated Dawn label "Safe for anodized Ducks."

Bikes that spend a lot of time outside be it while riding or on a car rack will see this way more than the bike that usually gets ridden for a few hours from the home and stored away in a garage away from the sun. I've got a set of green Project 321 hubs on my MTB and they look as good as the day I built them. But that bike generally gets ridden in the woods and might see 15-30 minutes on a rack per ride. I see some of our old ano'd tools once in a while and sometimes they look great and other times they've faded into green like colors. It just kind of depends on which ano shop they came out of. As a side note, we've been using the same shop as King for the last 5 years and those guys are awesome. The people before them, not so much.
Most all ano fades over time. I have a couple Abby tools that are a green like color, still work great though
Quality black has a good track record from what i have seen, but but ever see an old Cannondale or Trek stem/HB? they would fit right in with the Espresso colors now available.
As for the original OP question, get the color you like and enjoy it. Unless it's a forever bike for you, by the time the colors fade you may be onto a new bike anyway.

Brian Gerow wrote a good piece about how anodizing works and what all goes into a good job. Richard runs the ano shop we use and he's awesome.
