Fuji has always manufactured solid, straightforward, and very decent bicycles.
I was not aware they had a division specifically focused on government sales.

Good for Fuji. I wonder if Cannondale and Trek will do the same or similar.

I loved my past Fuji’s and would own another.

If I follow the logic, then ultimately police can't bike bikes?

This "logic" is counter to what people are protesting over as police on bikes allow for better and closer community interaction.

30 years ago I helped the Longmont, CO police buy their first two bikes, and equip one patrol car with a bike rack. It was an experiment, but a successful one.

I understand this, but when you start using the bikes to hit peaceful protestors with, I think you're outside the scope of "community policing"

The 'logic' is a recognition that many police departments have ingrained-in and institutional racism..Hence, until there are large scale and permanent 'fixes, Fuji choose to not support LE departments..it really has nothing to do with a 'bike'....

Be like a paintball gun maker decides to not support a law enforcement agency since these are used to shoot pepper spray balls..

I'm sure Fuji have looked at some of the videos and have been horrified to see their brand emblazoned on the downtubes of the bikes being used.

On top of that, the bikes are probably tested in a certain way so are designed to take care of those "regular cycling" loads rather than the loads associated with specific policing maneuvers.

Here is a funny commentary by one of the NYC locals: https://www.instagram.com/p/CBGOM59jAdS/

The Miami police are using Trek bikes in the video. Apparently, that skid was developed to take down someone running away.

That skid riff is an earworm.

There have been some pictures of police using Treks in a threatening manner where the Trek logo is very prominent. I can't imagine that sort of product placement is something they are happy about.

That video from Miami where they all trip as they are dismounting is pretty funny

I have my issues with my former employer but I'm glad it did this. Leading the industry is a good thing.

I guess Ford should stop selling police vehicles since it’s product was shown in the Floyd video?

Well, this is a safe move for any bike company right now. They can sell more than they can keep in stock, and I doubt that sales to police are a big percentage of overall production. Win on the PR side.

Setting aside the intrinsically racist nature of policing, are disc brakes the best choice for a bike-weapon? On one hand those hot rotors might inflict extra violence but, on the other, a bike is easily disabled with a weak kick in the rotor.
