Sebastapol Ride?

I'll be in Sebastapol all day Saturday and would love a recommendation of a pretty route to ride. I'll rent a probably standard road bike so anything requiring special equipment or preparation will be too much - just pedals, shoes, helmet and saddle bag. Probably have roughly 8 - 3, and a car to get somewhere (but no rack or anything).

What's your favorite route around there?

Dunno routes but make sure you include Coffee Catz for joe or Screamin' Mimi's for ice cream.

Get to Occidental, then any number of variants to include Coleman Valley Rd. Clockwise, a loop could follow Bohemian Highway south to Freestone and the Flour Garden Bakery. Turn right on Bodega Highway, then right again till it intersects Hwy 1. Right onto Hwy 1 for less than a mile, then right again onto Bay Hill Rd. Right onto Hwy 1 north when you reach the coast. Several miles further, turn right onto Coleman Valley Road for a bit of climbing. Don't forget to look back over your shoulder from time to time. About 8 miles in you'll intersect Joy Rd/Coleman Valley intersection in some nice redwoods. Turn left to stay on Coleman Valley. You'll cross a beautiful plateau of sorts, then descend back into Occidental. There's food and drink there.

The Occidental/Coleman Valley loop is about 26 miles IIRC with some good climbing. There are any number of gorgeous loops in that vicinity. The out and back from Sebastopol to Occidental is about another 18 miles.

Agreed 100% on the Coleman Valley Road loop-- go to 1 on Coleman from Occidental, then ride south to Bay Hill road, back up, work your way to Joy Road, back through Occidental to Sebastopol. You won't regret it. Take fattish tires.

This sounds perfect, and it's simple enough that I can remember it without even needing a computer! Thanks!

Regarding already mentioned ride, if you don't plan on stopping at the Wild Flour Baker in Freestone (it is an excellent bakery) I'd recommend right on Bittner out of Occidental followed by a left on Joy Road which also takes you to Bodega Highway. Much quieter route. Also, if interested in more miles (and climbing) add the Bay Hill Rd loop once you hit Hwy 1.

Plenty of gorgeous riding directly out of Sebastopol as well, just don't spend too much time on the main roads for you sanity (hwy 12, 116, Bodega Ave). Good local roads like Mill Station and Pleasant Hill to the south will take you to beautiful riding roads out of town.

PS the riding out here is amazing. Thanks for all the recs. Wild Flour and all of the roads you all mentioned were great! Trying to bushwhack some dirt roads off the 1 I had to turn around when they dead ended or became private (mile 53-58), but dang, y'all got some roads out here.
