Tdf 2018

Only a few weeks away! So what are you most looking forward to this years TDF?

There are a lot of really good riders on the list, but Sky is also looking stronger than ever.

Can Froome pull it of again?

Pictures of French mountains and countryside. Nice background noise and pics. Mellifluous sound of two drunks totally messing up the calls.

My interest in the actual racing is at an all time low.

Stage 17 has the potential to be interesting.

The TDF has become the whipping boy of the racing calendar for unexciting racing. It is worth it to point out how the riders view it.

Quote:
“The importance of the Tour is easy to explain. Everything in July is top level – every rider, every stage, every second. It all matters,” Uran said. “I need to focus for 21 days. It’s important to focus in the race, at the dinner table, for the sleep. From the moment you wake up until the moment you go to sleep, it’s like the World Championships every single day for three weeks.”
cycling tips

That the racing appears neutralized and unexciting has more to do with how small the gaps in performance really are, and how tightly clustered the top riders really are. No one is soft pedaling at the tour.

Saying it is boring is like going to a baseball game between two great pitchers and complaining that no one is scoring runs.

Yes....very true, but if there was no race radio with a DS talking into the racers ear, or power meters , they would have to actually strategize and think for themselves.
It would make racing a lot more exciting again.

I've watched every single TdF between 1988 and 2015. The past two events I only saw a handful of stages and this year I think I'll skip it altogether.

Well, you just confirmed for me that baseball is indeed boring.

Juraj Sagan’s brother has taken the Green Jersey to Paris on no fewer than five occasions. Seems to me he’s capable of finishing a 3-week event.
