SRAM 1x -> 2x

I've acquired from a friend a pile of parts that used to be an Air 9 carbon mountain bike, with a goal of making it a drop bar gravel/monster cross machine. Its an experiment, so, we'll see.

I dont want to put a double back on the bike, but I do want to use a drooper seat post - I got a shimano one here, and the cable head is at the bars (rather than the post, like most) which makes it nice for road shifters.

I *think* I want to grab some 11s SRAM hydro road shifters, but, most of them are 1x. With the double levers, if you remove the pawl, they operate a drooper post... and... I have an extra SRAM left side/front/double shifter here from some abandoned bike a long time ago.

Now - anyone been inside a SRAM hydro shifter? I would ass-u-me that all the plastic castings are the same, meaning I could fit the extra barrel and spring into a new body... wondering if that was possible. Would simplify (sort of) my search for new parts.
