This one is going to take somoe time to get over... I just don't have any good words. Met him back in 1992...amazing guy.

Tough to put into words...

I loved hearing his flowery commentary. My July Saturday routine used to be a big AM ride, followed by catching up with the TDF narrated by P&P.

Don't know this has been posted here, but it's a great read about Paul from Graham Watson...

So sorry to hear this news. He was a true gentleman.
Sad day indeed. Thanks for sharing this story . His voice was the epitome of a grace. Thank you for all the great cycling memories.

Though I haven't listened to Phil and Paul in years I really enjoyed them in the past.....especially those rare trips to Paris-Roubaix. RIP Paul.

I always enjoyed "the cat amongst the pigeons" statement whenever the move was made. RIP Paul

I'm grateful for Paul Sherwen's career and his passion to share cycling. Like others, his and Phil's voices are the sound of the big tours for me. There are other's, but... This coming season of classics and grands will be poignant.

We are not far off in age, and while I'll never see the glory or the heights he has, I'm fairly certain that our love of riding and the machine and its riders exist on the same plane, somewhere.

I had the impression that he still rode and stayed fit. So there will be now, one more note of urgency and attention during my own rides.

Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy.

Thanks, that was nicely written.

But surely the caption is wrong, and this photo is not from 1979. Laurent Fignon didn't even start racing with Renault until 1982.

Intense picture with tears in my eyes. Chad Young was pro cyclist for Areon, his father was my best friend growing up. His life ended at crash at tour of Arizona 2017.

Such a shame. 62 is far too young and based on his athletic background and staying in shape, heart concerns were probably not on anyone's radar. Please don't make the mistake of thinking exercise, good conditioning and keeping your weight under control is the silver bullet..it's not.

He will indeed be missed.

I just read a thing about Michael Johnson, once the fastest man in the world, who had a stroke a few years ago at age 50. Lived very well, no bad habits, still trim, worked out daily. Life is not fair at times. But, the bright side is that he is almost fully recovered after a few years of PT. They say healthy makes that easier.

I'm concerned that there is no cause of death announced. Many times, and I hope not to offend, that points to suicide.

Bob Roll and Liggett did the Vuelta together, seemed to get along. Maybe Bob will get promoted.

He died in his sleep, of heart failure.
