Just got off the trainer after riding the Alp in Zwift to see this, ugh, way too young.
RIP Paul, you'll be missed.

Paul was the media officer for the Motorola team in the 90s and Phil and Paul would often go on training rides with the team riding spare Eddy Merckx team bikes. Later when Paul and Phil became co-commentators, they used to do all the Famous Cycling Videos together. Fans could sign up to go on a Spring Classics cycling excursion led by Phil and Paul where they would ride portions of the various race routes and watch the races in person. It looked really fun and Paul and Phil appeared to be very good company. Wish I could have gone on one.

Nothing specific that I have seen.

Only that he died at home in Uganda.

Some on Twitter have mentioned him dealing with depression... But nothing official yet; at least not that I have seen.

Regardless, very sad news.

Edit: LA's Instagram says "he passed away in his sleep"

I did one of those tours. Phil and Paul were great. I ran into them again a couple of times through the years, most recently in 2012 in Compiegne the day before Roubaix. We got to chat for a good 30 minutes or so. Always a gentleman.

In 1999 when I did the spring classics tour, I was riding with Paul and was asking him about why I would see pro riders in the winter bundled up from head to toe in every piece of warm clothing possible, but they wouldn't be wearing gloves. He looks over at me and says..."It's about being a f@#$king man." The next day, no one in our little group had on gloves.

I work at the Apple store near the NBC studios in Stamford. Paul would stop in every time he was in town to cover a race and checkout the latest tech (most recently about 3 weeks ago). He was one of the nicest people to talk to. He would spend 30+ minutes just talking about bikes and racing. It was never about him... conversation was always about riders, bike tech, bike shops, etc. Would always ask if we could go for a ride together (he was being polite) ...fortunately I had to work when he was free on Sundays......he would have seriously kicked my ass).

So sorry to hear this news. He was a true gentleman.

Same here. I first watched the Phil and Paul show in 1989 during the TDF when Greg won by 7 secs. Watched the shows daily and taped them on VHS, I had watched my first bike race when the Tour de Trump came through Baltimore a few weeks before. I had never seen sporting events as cool as them before. I got inspired and bought two bikes in about two months.

Have been a regular TDF watcher since. Paul was always adding something that was informed and believable because he had been there and done that. Gonna miss Paul. RIP.

Oh, that is so sad. My wife and I used to love to watch World Cycling tapes/dvds of the Tour through the winter months. Phil and Paul were such fun. One of our favorite sayings of his - 'he's in a spot of bother'.
Will miss him. Way too young to leave us.

terribly sad, r.i.p. to a guy who's been there, done that.

always had an extra measure of respect for paul because he was there grinding it out as a pro way back in the day. sure gave him special insight and extra color commentary.

condolences to family, colleagues, friends.

This is indeed very sad news, and i’m really going to miss him. Ever since i started watching pro cycling, it’s always been Phil and Paul. It just won’t be the same without him.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends, as they mourn his untimely passing.

He posted on Twitter as recent as this past Friday...
