Oh man that’s sad to hear. He was the voice of the Tour for so many.

Damn, sorry to hear this. He was the voice of pro cycling when I got into it.

One of my favorite catch phrases was "bridge to engine room, more power! But there is no more power."

Thanks for the countless hours of enjoyment, and introducing me to a sport I now love.

A huge loss to the cycling community and then some. For me, a milestone to be sure. RIP Mr Sherwin, I thoroughly enjoyed your commentating and racing perspective.

"Pedals turned in anger" is likely my favorite. Among many.

My wife and I were at the tour of California a few years ago, met them both, Phil and Paul both were unbelievably gracious. Were more than happy to have their picture taken with us which is proudly framed in our den. Regardless of recent criticism, both were THE VOICE of cycling for the U.S.

I can’t imagine what Phil is going through.

Very sad

Agreed, and who's going to correct Phil when he misspeaks? RIP

Wow! He will be missed. I always enjoyed his commentary and insight.

He left this world way too young. Godspeed Paul!

Never met the guy, but I saw him nearly choke to death at the velodrome during the 1996 Olympics.
We were sitting in the section next to the athletes and Phil, Paul and Lemond were talking down on the landing and Paul was eating what looked like a burger. Next thing I knew, he was red, then purple in the face and the others were punching him in the back to dislodge the food. Finally, he coughed it up and was able to breath.
I hope his family takes it okay and can heal from his death.
I also hope Paul takes the hint and retires.

I always enjoyed his commentary, and he still had a lot of insight to offer, especially when he was unpaired from Phil's increasing detachment from what was actually happening at any particular race. His Vuelta commentary with Bob Roll in particular I thought was a lot of fun.

Truly saddened by the News of Paul Sherwen's passing.

My favorite part of the tour was Paul correcting all Phil's mistakes. I would say, "Wait for it... BAM!"

Oh Boy this is so sad. I really liked Paul commentary. My favorite line from him was "the decanting of the peloton". RIP
