A little surprised nobody mentioned this.
97 years old. One of the last of that era of Broadway and Movie icons. You knew the voice at the first word. BK

Not just 97 years old, but only 16 days shy of 98!
She was a singular sensation (pun intended) in musical theater; I don't think we'll ever again see an actor who is both as talented and as idiosyncratic. My favorite trivia learned from reading the obits today: She made it onto Richard Nixon's infamous "Enemies List" ...and she considered that the highest achievement of her career!
