26 to 650b comparison?
Sounds weird but can anyone tell me what the relative diameter of a 26 wheel with a 2.2β tire compared to a 27.5β wheel. I assume that the tire would be less than 2β in order to fit in this frame?
It is a very cool frame that Iβve lusted after for over a decade |

D-pal, I don't know the answer to your question but I converted my Surly trucker from 26 to 650b x 48mm (Compass Switchback Hills). To be more specific, the bike was designed for 26 inch wheels but when I bought the frameset, I went ahead and installed a 650b size wheelset on it so that I can use the Compass SBH. I really like the smooth and cushy ride. It does feel like I am sitting taller but I soon get used to it.

For comparison, I found a picture of another pal's LHT using 26 wheels.

Well
Thatβs depressing. I guess this bike would stay as a 26er then in order to maintain big tires. |

My standard answer to the 'what's the difference between...' question is always: 650b is basically a 26er that rolls better.
Still feels just as playful and maneuverable, just faster. IDK about hos to make em work on non-disc frames 'cause my last 26er had discs. Nor do I know the specific outer dia. You'll have to measure Good luck! M |
