The article is almost a verbatim rework of his posts here.

aka "oops, people were having issues running the ultra low pressures i have been pushing for years, but our tires are so good now, no longer necessary to run such low pressures, in fact, those low pressures are now not safe."
people think its weird i run my 32s at 60 psi or more. no idea why??? they are great at this pressure. i think its weird people wanna ride beach cruiser tires not inflated. fill em til they feel good and ride. |

seems like captain obvious but someone here almost had his tire collapse running his tire pressure too low on pavement so I think Jan is just covering his ass.

HAHAHAH. I love it because on the internet its almost a competition on how low your tire pressure is. Someone is like, I run 32s at 70 and someone is like, I am at 50 as if 50 was better than 70. |

As with most things, ppl just look at numbers on the internet and say that is or isn't what psi I should be riding. The biggest factor to me (and Jan touches on it in that article) is rider weight. Seems obvious but it is often overlooked or not talked about.

Absolutely! We really appreciate the discussions here, and when we realized that there was a need for more information, I drafted the blog post to get the word out to a larger audience. The best work is done as part of a community, and you are among the people who influence what we do. Thank you!

It all depends on terrain, use, how aggressive a rider you are, your weight. This whole tire pressure thing started years ago when folks were over flatting tires because they read 120 psi was GOD.
