Weird idea, but could you get some of the tiltable brake pad holders to angle down, and then file the pad so that it met the rim squarely? Not the drop holders, but the kind that let you adjust for brake squeal.

Or -- I've used the B-Dop holders in the past and they work fine. It's a cheap solution to try, at least.

Thanks. Yeh, I measured the 'meat' at the slot bottom, and m-a-y-b-e could take 1mm off, but I'd be worrying about a) The slot breaking, b) Messing up a nice caliper, c)...stuff... d) All of the above

End result - I bought a Shimano caliper for the time being, just to get on the road. Gran Cru is on the back of my radar stack...maybe later if all works out.

Go with 957

They are as good as proper race bike calipers. I had them on a Kona Honky daily commuter - with brand new rims, cables etc they had OTB potential when paired with Ultegra 6703 levers.
