I am planning to get a SE-128 for my daughter. But I don’t really want to get ATT/Verizon since their plans doesn’t make much sense to me. My daughter is mostly at home, specially nowadays as a 7th grader. Even when she goes back to school next year she will be mostly home outside of school. So a plan like Redpocket is more appropriate.
Hopefully there are deals during Black Friday. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I’ll use the old, creaky, obsolete iOS(14.2), that still allows me to do everything I want to do on my..........telephone..

Looking at the website I only see the monthly options. Is it possible to just buy outright? If so - how? Is this only a online deal? Trade-in required? And last, how crazy all this seems to me that I’m looking at not only spending more money on a phone than I did my first car (!) but it’s far more complicated than buying a car. Technology is suppose to make our lives better? And please note! I’m not entirely a caveman. Yes, I only ride mechanical shifting set-ups but a few of my bikes do have hydraulic disc brakes! |

I’m still getting security updates on an old iPod Touch with iOS 12.4.9.
And for a device getting the current iOS 14, should be a year until it’s dropped from iOS 15, and it still will get security updates. If it wasn’t for the upgrade deal that Sprint is running now, I would still be on my SE. Last edited by Tony T; 11-19-2020 at 09:22 AM. |

Just went from an X to a 12 mini. Loving it.
Love the smaller form factor. Not feeling I’m losing anything with the smaller screen compared to 12. |

For anyone with. or getting the iPhone mini, be aware of the following issue:
iPhone 12 mini owners report unresponsive lock screensThis issue only occurs with a case/screen protector combo. A work-around kludge until Apple issues an update is to touch the edge of the rear camera ring with one finger while touching the screen with another. This issue is not present once past the lock screen. . Last edited by Tony T; 11-19-2020 at 10:54 AM. |

It also supposedly fixes the messaging problem I reported above. |

Thanks to pdmtong!
Just wanted to post a follow up thanking pdmtong and others for patiently sharing what he knows and has experienced as it relates to recent iPhone upgrades.
Last Friday I took my iPhone 6S into an ATT store as I was not having much luck sorting out my options on the ATT site. The ATT employee was helpful. When I walked into the store my plan was a family plan with 20g data shared amongst 3 lines. I had been on an unlimited plan since the Cingular days but we switched because it was advantageous a few years ago. The base rate for that plan was $90 plus $20 per line for a total of $150. I changed our plan to an unlimited plan at a base cost of $150 with no per line charge. Net zero change in the monthly plan costs. This made me eligible to received a $350 credit for my iPhone 6S 64g which I did and walked out with an iPhone 12 mini 128g ($750 less $350). He asked my wife's (the primary account holder) employer, which is an accounting firm with a couple hundred employees, and found that somehow this upgraded my plan to where I now receive HBO Max via our ATT plan. This saves me $14.99/mo (I was already a subscriber). Insurance on the new phone is $15/mo with a $179 deductible. I believe the rep said it is mandatory they add that amount but you can cancel it, which I will do. |

Tangentially related here:
I was supposed to get new batteries in our Gen 1 SE phones yesterday at Best Buy. They emailed the hour before I was heading up there to say that they had no parts to work on our phones. This is after having the appointment for a week, and my wife being without phone for a week. Cursing, I decide to just get new SEs. Call Xfinity, they say go to X store, they are in stock. Drive 30 mins to store X, no phones. At the store they say drive to store Y, they have phones, another 30 mins away. 3 hours later we have nice new gen 2 SE phones which are actually pretty sweet. Retail is $400 but we got $250 visa gift card per phone. Hard to argue with that. |
