Many gorgeous Toyota / Lexus Land Cruisers in this thread... jealous!

Picked up a fairly clean 2003 Lexus GX470 last Fall, in Sand Dollar Pearl, with 107k miles..... installed new front brakes/rotors, did the timing belt/water pump, and installed some American Classic rim with Continental Terrain Contact tires.

Haha

This is my first vehicle (and newest ever) since i sold my 1997 GMC Yukon SLE two-door in 2007. Was living car-free in NYC for about 14 years, and just moved to Ithaca this past Fall, so had to secure a car prior to the move.

My gf and I took a Saturday to cycle all over Brooklyn / Queens looking at used cars. Nothing was in our budget, or if it was, we had no desire to own it..... until we came across a GX470 in Cypress Hills, with +200k miles, an impeccable interior and spacious enough that could fit both our bikes without taking the wheels off. We couldn't believe how well it aged. Lexus wasn't even on our radar, but we both loved the GX. So the next week we found this GX located near New Haven, CT..... it had great maintenance records up till about 85k miles, and much lower mileage.

Here is a recent shot of my 1987 60. She recently got some new shoes. All in all she is fairly stock and almost totally rust free.

Love this thread. Family had an ‘89 Land Cruiser growing up. Always loved the boxy shape and sharp lines. Maybe, I’ll get roasted for this, but just 9 hrs round trip to pick up this ‘07 LR3 for a song. Excited to add some mods and make it a true “AdventureMobile” as my 3 young boys call it.

80's

Many fond memories of driving around in my buddy's '86 (? - had the four square headlights)...especially the time we drove it directly up a municipal ski slope covered in snow.

Best of luck with the RR - not being snarky...I hope you get miles of smiles out of it.

I've owned two: an '08 supercharged sport and a '11 full size RR.

I've been blessed to own many cool cars and the fullsize RR made me feel the most "special" - interior quality was impeccable, and you truly felt like the king of the road with that upright seating position.

Unfortunately, that sucker stranded me on the side of the road 4 times. I should have abided by the oft-repeated refrain: "Your first Land Rover will likely be your last" as my sport had decent reliability (but only owned it for a year lol).
