I've played around a bit with the Future Shock, dialing it from firm to soft. The difference is quite noticeable. I sense a little bobbing when standing while in the soft setting, but for relaxed efforts none at all. According to Specialized, the firm setting does not lock out the suspension effect, but for all practical purposes, it does.
Overall, I'm pretty impressed with the Future Shock. It does what it's supposed to without being intrusive. Typical road imperfections, (cracks, small potholes and chip seal,) never get to my hands. I can only tell it's moving by seeing the rubber boot flex.
While the bike isn't especially light, 22 pounds for my size 56 frame (with pedals and cages,) it doesn't ride heavy. Step on the pedals and it goes.
I've yet to get it on any serious gravel, that will likely wait until I get to Oregon later this summer, but on pavement, it rides like a really nice road bike.
GRX 2x is Shimano, quick shifting and quiet. I really like the shift levers. Hard braking, with only one or two fingers is very easy to do from the hoods and the wide platform of the brake lever is very comfortable.
Coming from my usual rides, (custom Hampstens in steel and carbon,) I wasn't sure what to expect from a Big 3 bike. After 75 miles, I think Specialized has done a really nice job with the Diverge.

The big manufacturers DO do a good job at making a great bike despite what the 'I have to ride custom/boutique or I'm not riding!' folks say.

Enjoy the ride!

Crust Lightning Bolt. With parts from various outstanding souls on this forum. (Still dialing in fit, hence, no bar tape).

Thanks!

It’s like they are made for each other. A road focused company and a dirt focused company that met somewhere in the middle.

Been trying to find a good tire setup to our local gravel since a lot of it is strung together with pavement connectors and think I finally found a perfect match. Schwalbe G-One Bite/Allrounder mix in 38c. Have the Bite on the front for a little better traction and the Allrounder in the rear for getting a little more slidey.

Thanks.

Your bike with the pink tape and other bits inspired me to get bright pink bottles. It looks perfect with the frame.

I like it so far. Pretty compliant fork for a stock unit. Love the drivetrain. Byway tires are awesome especially on dirt. RH Rando bars.....not 100% sold on yet. I’m going to wrap the bars in non-sticky bartape to really test it out on a mixed terrain loop. The frame itself rides fine. I don’t know that it “planes”( mostly because I think it is fiction). But rides super smooth compared to the CAAD I just purchased. Overall, nice ride and about what I had hoped for.
