Shimano says the same thing. Fortunately my 46/34 Ultegra 6800 cranks can't read and shift just fine .

I'll have the easton on an upcoming build. It's flared but not tooooo flared like the other bars. A good, in between. I can't wait to try it out.

As far as gearing, 1x with 42t front and 10-42t rear. It's done me well on bike packing trips...although, I would consider a 40t front.
