I would agree... but Vollering put in a pretty big effort at the end when she could have just sat it out entirely. Either do it or don't.

I don't think Vollering is a great tactical rider. I think she's just really strong. Wouldn't be surprised if she started chasing on instinct, and the team director told her to save her energy.

Saving her legs for tomorrow, or ???? I thought it was weird.
One of the things that's easy to forget when we're watching bike racing is that sometimes, races are ****ing hard, riders get tired and can't do things we think are obvious choices.

Vollering and Vas has been riding in the front group of a hard day in crosswinds. Then there were a bunch of searing attacks and a tough climb. One or both of them might have thought "hell, that was a hard couple of minutes, I don't think I can slam this gap shut." And in stage races, sometimes discretion is the better part of valor - you don't want to shoot all your bullets too soon.

Amazing scenery!
Vollering had the legs today. Longo Borghini seemed to really be laboring, lower cadence than the others.
So sad about Gaia Realini crash, I hope she's OK.

Noticeable how previous stage winners effused about their teams, and Vollering doesn't do that.

During the last climb, I thought 'is Vollering setting up a launch for Fisher? Why would she do that' Then she just rode everyone off her wheel. I'm just used to seeing the team leaders using up their teammates before taking off.

Impressive fitness and the biggest surprise on this stage was Katarzina getting dropped.

Seems Demi may be peaking now and Kasia might have peaked earlier?

I still wonder if we're seeing SDWorx ride differently than in years past because of Demi's situation. Danny Stam finally shut up but he's been pretty grumpy about it IMO.

Rider who frequently wins wins, rider who rarely wins gets dropped. Played out pretty much as expected.

Vos again! Once she went, she was gone. Amazing acceleration past Faulkner.
