Anybody try Bivo water bottles (non-plastic)?
Velocio is pushing them as more environmentally OK. Made of stainless steel.

No.
And you can have my Specialized water bottle when you pry it from my cold, dead hands. |

I predict this are gonna be big. $40 waterbottles are the new thing now that everyone has a $50 saddlebag.
Seriously though, i like it, but I'd like a bigger volume. |

I can't do hard bottles on the bike. Maybe on tour but even them I'm just carrying 2 litter bladder bags.
I do see plenty of commuters using steel but I also still wonder about the costs and resources used per bottle and people still use them a much shorter period then they should, because....new. I love me Purist bottles. Rinse after use and wash every so often. |

https://cyclingtips.com/2021/01/bivo...cusing-on-air/ Minuses outweigh the plusses IMO. Non insulated, much heavier, huge area for debris collection, and WAYYY more expensive than Purist or Camelback Podium Chill bottles which are my go-tos. The nozzle system seems to work really well, but again the tradeoff is debris collection which is a non-starter IMO If they worked as well as the aforementioned bottles then maybe the price hike for something more sustainable is warranted, but at the present moment I can't see a huge uptick. Now, if it was made with titanium and priced at 4x the price then sign me up |

I bought one. I was really surprised how good the flow is. Wasn’t difficult to drink from at all. However, I use King Ti cages and the finish started chipping off after one 25 miles ride. Maybe with different cages the experience will be different. It also sits a little funny in my cage.

Which reminded me- Metal bottles and top tubes don't go well together. I know this from experience. |

The nozzle design is the gate-stopper for me. It allows too much rubbish to get stuck in the opening. I purchased several Camelback bottles some years ago that also had a depression in the nozzle, and it filled up with road grime, dirt and pollen. The heck with that.

Several months after James Huang's review, he is still raving about those bottles, so that says something. I've got so many bottles rolling around from events, that I won't need to buy bottles for ages.

I think I'll stick with my CamelBak Podium's.

Hmm, makes me think of crashes on gravel rides due to dropped or ejected water bottles. If people wipe because of squishy plastic ones, they'll flip for these (excuse the pun). Or maybe they're hard so they'll just bump the wheel and go flying.

Pair them with some Mandible or King Ti cages and you’ve got $200-250 invested in bottles and cages...jeez.

Stop making stuff with soft grip coating! Hate it, looks great new, but inevitably melts and turns into a sticky mess before item has outlived it's useful life.

A Toyota Prius with luxury car price tag.
I recently ordered a travel kuppe https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073DSTCMR...roduct_details It fails to fit in my arundel, which is my daily rider, and even a half hearted attempt to insert into aforementioned cage resulted in minor scuffs. Passed it on to a bike with arundel looney bin and it works great |
